The kids last day of fall break was yesterday, and because I was stuck in the house all day monday cleaning and over the weekend we had pictures made, which I can not wait to post because they were done by my extremly talented friend Michelle, she's amazing.Really amazing! So, I knew we would get out and do something on that last day.
The weather was gorgeous! Beyond gorgeous,it was perfect. There was a cool breeze and warm sunshine, so a jacket or a t shirt would be the perfect attire.
We decided on the park. We have an awesome park here, lots of open field and a huge play area with swings and slides and sandboxes. This was Evelyn's very first trip to the park and she loved it. Ava brought Ella, (her sister from another mister) and Eli brought K.J.( his brother from another mother) I had to say it:) We picked up a couple of pizza's and made our way to the nearest shadiest picnic table we could find. They scarfed it down, because they were hungry but also couldn't wait to run out and play.
notice the RED lipstick? yep, a little scary......
The boys immediatly ran into another group of boys and started a football game, they played for hours. Eli was so excited to see his friend Kenny from third grade. He was his best friend that year. Hard to believe that was two years ago.
Ava and Ella took off for the tire swing and swung and swung for hours.I have no idea how the
didn't throw up. I almost did watching them and thinking about it right now is making me a little queazy. Evelyn loved the swing, she loves the outdoors. She's the happiest girl in the world when we're outside.
the tounge is always out waiting for an opportunity to taste the world around her
she's wearing some of Ava's old pants. Ava wore these when she was 2!
After a while, I found a cozy little spot to sit out our blanket and nurse Evelyn.
That was the most peaceful spot. Its been a while since I've felt at complete ease. Just being outside, the wind blowing in the trees, the breeze, the sunshine. Just me and my girl in the fresh air. There were other people there but they were distant and I felt like the whole park was ours. I could see Eli and his friends on one side and Ava and Ella on the other. The breeze and the trees were like therapy. I wanted to stay all day.
We played until everyone was completly exhausted, loaded up our things and headed to the pumpkin patch. Since halloween is still several weeks away,we decided on small pie pumpkins to paint. Plus they were only a dollar each and I had five kids with me:) They couldn't wait to break out the paints, the boys knew they wanted to do their favorite football teams and girls weren't sure . I painted Evelyn's for her.
It was such a great day, one I'll remember for a long time and I hope the kids do too. It goes to show ,the most simple things in life makes me so happy. Just simply being outside with my kids, being right there watching them run and play and laugh with friends, watching Evelyn experience somehting for the very first time....it was magical. I loved yesterday and I can't wait to do it again.
